NHL players who were teammates with goalie Jimmy Howard said the Edmonton Oilers goalie was not the best player he ever played with, but they said Imac’s character and desire to be a good teammate made him a great player.
“He was a great teammate,” forward Matt Duchene said.
“He was just so committed to what he was doing, he was just going to make it work.
That’s a great guy.
He was such a great competitor and a great leader, and I loved working with him.
I’ve never played against him.
I don’t think there’s a better goalie in the league than him.””
I would say that he was a really good goalie for us.
I don’t think there’s a better goalie in the league than him.”
The goalies for both teams were named the day before Imac retired, which was a first for the Oilers, who won their first two games.
Duchene was a standout in the team’s first-round series against the Detroit Red Wings, and was named to the NHL’s All-Rookie Team for the second straight year.
Howard, who signed with the Oilers in 2017, was a late addition to the roster.
He has six goals and 11 assists in 21 games.
The Oilers had to make a trade to get Howard.
They also dealt for forwards Anthony Stolarz and Kyle Palmieri, as well as defenseman Matt Hendricks and forward Benoit Pouliot.
