Apple and Google will soon launch their own sports apps for Android and Apple’s new iOS and Android TV devices, according to a report.
The report, which was published by Bloomberg Businessweek, said that Google is also planning to release an app for the Apple TV set-top box that will allow users to download their favorite teams and players from the platform.
The app, expected to be available in the next few months, will be similar to Google’s other sports apps, but it will be “more accessible and easier to use,” Bloomberg said.
The company said it will also offer “game, team, and player ratings” to users who want to learn more about their favorite sports teams.
Apple and Google are not the only major tech companies looking to launch apps for its own hardware platforms.
Facebook is working on a similar app for its iPhone and iPad, according an email from the company to The Associated Press on Friday.
Apple’s Android app has been used by some users for a long time, but the platform has struggled to keep up with the pace of Android software updates.
Facebook said last month that it will stop using Android’s version of its social network, WhatsApp, in the coming weeks.
